Our story
Hi. We are Amy and Ali, sisters and co-founders of She’s Birdie. Our company began when we were sending our kids and nieces off to college and learned that 1 in 3 women worldwide experiences sexual violence in her lifetime (World Health Organization).
Horrified by this statistic and knowing that young women and students are particularly vulnerable, we wanted to take action. Because feeling safe is fundamental to living a healthy life, we developed the Birdie Personal Safety Alarm to empower girls and women as they move through their daily lives.
How it works
The Birdie Personal Safety Alarm comes with a brass keychain which can attach to keys, a backpack, or a belt loop. If you’re ever feeling unsafe or want to disrupt a situation, simply pull Birdie’s top-pin to activate the LOUD siren and flashing strobe light. Despite its compact size, Birdie packs a powerful punch, emitting a siren as loud as a jet engine overhead. To turn off the alarm, simply reinsert the pin.
Because it’s so easy to use, even in moments of panic, it can be activated quickly and effortlessly. Use it to bring all eyes on you to help interrupt an uncomfortable situation and increase your visibility in dark or low-light situations.
Each alarm is hand-tested and built to last. The siren and flashing light can be used and reused with 40 continual minutes of battery life. Unlike other personal safety devices, Birdie is nonviolent and can never be used against you. It is TSA approved, so it can accompany you when you travel.
