Licener: Head lice in school
Preferred Supplier Article: Written by an Education Australia Preferred Supplier about their own products and services. It is not written or endorsed by Education Australia.
Head lice spread through close head-to-head contact with someone who has head lice, therefore very common among school aged children. Head lice are not linked to poor hygiene. Encouraging caregivers to regularly check children’s hair can help stop the spread of head lice.
Checking for head lice
Lice can crawl and hide. The easiest and most effective way to find them is to follow these steps:
Step 1: Comb any type of hair conditioner on to dry, brushed (detangled) hair. This stuns the lice and makes it difficult for them to grip the hair or crawl around.
Step 2: Comb sections of the hair with a fine-tooth head lice comb.
Step 3: Wipe the conditioner from the comb onto a paper towel or tissue.
Step 4: Look on the tissue and the comb for lice and eggs.
Step 5: Repeat the combing for every part of the head at least four or five times.
If lice or eggs are found, the hair should be treated as soon as possible.
Licener® Complete Solution
Licener® Complete Solution is an all-in-one treatment that kills head lice and their eggs in a single 10-minute treatment.
The active ingredient in Licener® is Neem-extract, originating from the Neem tree.
When Licener® is applied according to the directions, the extract covers, immobilises and suffocates lice causing them to die. It also penetrates tiny openings at the top of the eggs (nits) called aeropyles (breathing holes) blocking the oxygen flow which causes carbon dioxide to build up, and the nits suffocate and die. In this way, Licener® kills both the lice and nits in a single treatment. There is no need to wash hair with shampoo or conditioner post treatment and combing is not required to remove dead lice and eggs. No repeat treatment is necessary unless reinfestation occurs.
Licener® is available at a discounted rate delivered direct to your school via Shop Licener using discount code SCHOOL15
Licener® is suitable for adults and children from 2 years old. Do not use if pregnant or likely to become pregnant or breastfeeding.
