In Sync Therapy: Classrooms are changing

Educators are seeing more children who struggle to regulate, engage, transition, listen, participate or join in with learning. A child may appear restless, withdrawn, avoidant, overwhelmed or unable to follow what is being asked, even when the educator is doing everything they can to help.

These moments can feel challenging, but they are also important clues. Behaviour is often the tip of the iceberg: The visible part of a deeper need that is asking to be understood.

When educators understand why behaviour happens, everything shifts

Sensory Smart Education helps teams move beyond behaviour management and into the science of regulation. The focus is not on adding more to educators’ workload. It is about helping teams understand what may be getting in the way of regulation, attention, coordination and participation, then turning that insight into confident, practical action.

Educator training

Educator training equips teams with the science of regulation and a shared language for understanding behaviour, attention and participation. It strengthens capability, helping educators notice patterns, understand children’s needs and respond with more confidence across the whole learning environment.

This builds strong Tier 1 capability, giving educators universal whole-class strategies that support regulation, engagement and participation.

Workshops

Our workshops help educators understand the why beneath behaviour and turn that insight into practical strategies tailored to their own cohort.

Before training, Sensory Smart Education takes time to understand your cohort, routines and whole-class needs, so the workshop is shaped around your setting. Your team then works alongside a paediatric OT to unpack real classroom examples linked to behaviour, regulation, attention, coordination and participation.

Additional support

Onsite OT Support provides embedded classroom support to observe routines, model strategies and help educators apply sensory-informed approaches in the moment. Equipment Audit and Sensory Space Design offers OT-informed guidance to help schools and centres plan, choose and use sensory equipment and spaces with purpose, safety and student needs in mind.
