Intelligent Cleaning for Modern Learning Environments

Educational facilities today face increasing pressure to maintain high cleaning standards while managing labour shortages, budget constraints and growing campus demands. From classrooms and lecture theatres to libraries, cafeterias, student hubs and gymnasiums, keeping spaces consistently clean is essential to supporting student wellbeing and creating positive learning environments.

Tennant’s ROVR robotic floor scrubber range has been developed to help schools, TAFEs and universities address these challenges through autonomous floor cleaning technology. The range includes the compact X2 ROVR SCRUB, the versatile X4 ROVR and the high-capacity X6 ROVR, providing solutions for facilities of varying sizes and requirements.

Smarter Cleaning, Stronger Support for Staff

Rather than replacing staff, autonomous cleaning technology helps custodial teams focus on higher-value tasks that require hands-on attention. By automating repetitive floor care, staff can spend more time maintaining high-touch surfaces, responding to facility needs and supporting overall campus presentation. The X6 ROVR was specifically developed to help facilities optimise labour resources while maintaining cleaning consistency.

Key Benefits

  • Demonstrates how robotics and human expertise can work together to achieve better cleaning outcomes.
  • Helps address industry-wide labour challenges by automating repetitive cleaning tasks.
  • Delivers data-driven cleaning that increases accountability and transparency.
  • Promotes healthier schools, TAFEs and universities through more consistent cleaning practices.
  • Reduces resource consumption through smarter use of water, chemicals and energy.
  • Represents the next evolution of facility maintenance, creating cleaner, safer and more sustainable learning environments for future generations.

Creating a cleaner world

A solution for Every Learning Environment

The X2 ROVR SCRUB is designed for smaller and more confined areas such as classrooms, hallways, cafeterias and student common areas. Its compact footprint allows it to navigate narrow spaces while providing consistent autonomous cleaning performance.

The X4 ROVR is suited to busy educational facilities requiring a balance of manoeuvrability and productivity. Its autonomous navigation system enables operation in congested environments while helping minimise disruption to students, staff and visitors.

For larger facilities, the X6 ROVR delivers high-capacity autonomous cleaning across extensive floor areas such as gymnasiums, event spaces, cafeterias, libraries and large campus buildings. The machine can clean up to approximately 6,970 m² (75,000 sq ft) on a single tank and charge, helping facilities maximise coverage with minimal oversight.

Designed for Safer, Cleaner Environments

Powered by BrainOS® autonomy technology, the ROVR range uses intelligent navigation to optimise cleaning routes and adapt to changing environments. The technology helps maintain consistent cleaning standards while supporting safer and healthier spaces for students, educators and visitors. Additionally, reduced water and chemical consumption can assist facilities working toward sustainability goals.

As education providers continue to look for smarter ways to manage facilities, autonomous cleaning technology is becoming an increasingly practical solution. By combining robotics with Tennant’s cleaning expertise and support services, the ROVR range helps schools, TAFEs and universities focus on what matters most: providing safe, welcoming and well-maintained learning environments.
