In Sync Therapy Hub: From regulation to readiness: A smarter way to support learning

Every educator knows the moment when learning has to pause because a child’s body, emotions or behaviour are saying, “I’m not ready yet.” In these moments, what children need is not simply correction. They need adults who understand regulation, connection and the sensory systems that shape how they participate in the world.

At In Sync Therapy Hub, we are proud to partner with Sensory Smart Education to bring this understanding into Australian schools, early learning services and education communities. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting children by supporting the educators and families around them.

Sensory Smart Education’s mission is clear: Empowering educators to foster a culture of regulation and confidence. Their work helps educators look beyond behaviour and understand what may be happening underneath it. When staff understand the science of regulation, they are better equipped to create classrooms where children feel safe, organised and ready to learn.

Through this partnership, Sensory Smart Education is supported by the clinical knowledge of paediatric Ayres Sensory Integration-trained occupational therapists. This means schools are not receiving generic strategies or quick fixes. They are accessing practical, evidence-informed support that connects sensory processing, nervous system regulation and child development with everyday classroom practice.

Sensory Smart Education offers a range of services designed for the whole education community. Educator training helps teachers, teacher aides and leadership teams build confidence in understanding sensory needs, regulation and participation. Workshops provide engaging, practical learning experiences where teams can explore strategies they can use immediately with students.

For schools needing more than a one-off session, live educator support offers ongoing guidance when challenges arise in real time. This allows educators to reflect, problem-solve and feel supported as they respond to students with complex regulation needs.

Sensory Smart Education also recognises that children thrive when home and school are connected. Their family support service helps parents and carers understand their child’s sensory and regulation needs, creating more consistency across environments. The Early Connection Program supports young children and families in the early years, with a focus on connection, regulation and readiness for learning.

Additional services include screenings to help identify sensory and regulation needs early, a satellite clinic to increase access to therapy-informed support, and equipment audits and sensory space design to help schools create purposeful environments. This ensures sensory tools and spaces are selected with intention, not guesswork.

For educators, the impact can be transformative. They gain practical tools, clearer language and greater confidence in responding to student needs. For children, the result is calmer, more supportive environments where engagement and learning can grow.

This work also matters for educator wellbeing. Burnout is a real challenge across the education sector, especially when staff feel they are constantly reacting without enough support. By partnering with Sensory Smart Education, In Sync Therapy Hub is helping bring educators the knowledge, strategies and guidance they need to feel less alone and more empowered.

Together, we are helping education settings move beyond behaviour management and towards a culture of regulation, confidence and connection.
